Digital Marketing during Crisis

United Nations - Lebanon

September - December 2024 Conflict

Context & Strategy:

When the September 2024 Israeli aggression in Lebanon, operations and communications were put on hold nationwide. In response, I led the development and execution of a sensitive, ethical, and fully organic digital marketing and communications strategy that maintained UN-Habitat Lebanon’s visibility and credibility — ensuring the agency remained present, empathetic, and relevant during the crisis.

Key Actions:

  • Drafted and released the first UN agency statement condemning the escalations in Lebanon on social media

  • Designed and implemented a multi-platform campaign highlighting UN-Habitat’s continued on-ground support to civil defense units, fire brigades, local authorities, and damage mapping initiatives.

  • Curated a special edition of UN-Habitat Lebanon’s newsletter dedicated to the agency’s urban recovery and emergency response work.

Building Destruction and Debris Quantities Assessment - UN-Habitat

At UN-Habitat Lebanon, I led the development of the communications plan and content for a series of assessments examining the impact of Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon’s built environment. My responsibilities included conceptualizing and producing user-friendly, visually engaging content to effectively communicate complex data to the public. This involved designing and overseeing the production of an informative motion graphics video, infographics, and a dedicated webpage to ensure accessible and impactful storytelling.

Rebuilding Hope: Lebanon’s Journey toward Sustainable Recovery through Debris Management

The United Nations Debris Task Force was launched in the aftermath of the conflict, and is composed of ten UN entities working collaboratively to ensure that debris removal is environmentally responsible while ensuring that affected populations actively participate in the recovery process.

To promote the work of the Debris Task Force, I worked closely with the Resident Coordinator’s Office to develop a communications plan that included a Web story, a Human Interest Story (video), and social media posts. Particularly, I conceptualized, filmed, and edited the video and social media visuals for United Nations Lebanon channels
